Ingredients
  

  • 50 gram Rajma – 50 grams (1/4 cup)
  • Coriander
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Fenugreek
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp Desi ghee
  • 2 tbsp Cream or butter
  • Ginger
  • 2 Green chilli
  • 4 Tomato
  • 1/4 tbsp Baking Soda – 1/4 tsp
  • 2 2 cup Whole urad

Instructions
 

  • The first thing you have to do is to clean and wash the urad and rajma thoroughly. After that, what has to be done is to wash it, add water again, and keep it aside for 8 hours so that the Rajma and Urad swell properly. You can soak it overnight so that you can make delicious Dal Makhani.
  • When after 8 hours both urad and rajma swell. Then all the water has to be removed from it. Now you have to put the lentils in the cooker, add baking soda and salt along with 2 cups of water, and then cover the cooker and keep it on the gas. Now when the cooker whistles for 1 whistle then slow down the gas. Then let the dal cook for 5 more minutes on low flame, when the time is up turn off the flame.
  • Now after this, chop tomatoes, green chillies and a little ginger and put them in the mixer and grind them finely.
  • Now you have to take a pan, put ghee in it and heat it, now you have to add asafoetida, cumin and fenugreek. Then now that cumin and fenugreek have been roasted well, now add ginger to it and fry. Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder, mix well and fry.
  • Now when your ginger etc is completely cooked, add tomatoes to the spices, mix well, and cook, now you have to add green chili paste and now add cream. Now stir and fry until oil starts floating on top of the spices.
  • Now you have to open the cooker and mix the lentils in the spices. After that add some water and cook for about 2-3 minutes only. Add water according to how thin or thick you want it to be.
  • Once the lentils and kidney beans are cooked, add the garam masala and mix. Also, chop green coriander and mix it, and then switch off the gas. Then your Dal Makhani is ready.
  • You can eat Dal Makhani with Naan, Paratha, Chapati, and rice. I prefer to call the surface of rice and dal makhani.
