Ingredients

  • ½ cup rice
  • ½ tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • ½ cup Doong Dal
  • 4 cup water
  • ¼ tbsp Turmeric

  • 1 onion, fully chopped
  • 1 tbsp 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tomato, fully chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric

Instructions
 

  • To make Khichdi dish, first of all you have to take a big bowl, take 1/2 cup rice in it, after that add 1/2 cup dal and wash both of them thoroughly with water or 8 to 10 minutes. leave some money for filling
  • After that you have to take a cooker and put one spoon of ghee in it and heat it, after that you have to take soaked lentils and rice and put them in that cooker and then cook them for two to three minutes. Fry it until a slight aroma starts coming out.
  • Now you have to take one teaspoon of turmeric, then you have to take half a teaspoon of salt, after that you have to add four cups of water and then mix everything well. After that, all you have to do is put the lid of your cooker.
  • Then after that, you have to take a big pan and put two tablespoons of ghee in it and after it gets a little hot, you have to add cumin seeds and put it in the pan, after that you have to add a bay leaf and add it. Keep stirring a little, after that you have to add a little asafoetida, due to which the taste of khichdi will increase a lot and the khichdi will start smelling due to the aroma of asafoetida.
  • Now you have to fry the spices a little more until the aroma starts coming out.
  • Now you have to take one onion, chop it finely, and take two or three garlic cloves and chop them, after that fry these things thoroughly.
  • When the onion and garlic are fried well, then add finely chopped tomatoes to them, and remember to fry the tomatoes well until they become soft. Now you have to cook all this on low flame.
  • Then you have to add a little turmeric in it, then add a little red chili powder and garam masala and finally add salt as per taste. Now cook them for two to two and a half minutes until they smell fragrant. cook until cooked.
  • Now you have to put the lentils and rice in it and add half a cup of water along with it and if needed you can add more water and keep mixing it while adding water so that it does not get cobwebbed and gets cooked well.
  • Now you have to cover it and cook it for 5 minutes till the water dries up and keep in mind that you keep looking at it again and again so that the khichdi does not burn.
  • The last thing you have to do is add some coriander and your khichdi will be ready.
